हवाई छायाचित्रकार - श्री गोपाळ बोधे. सांगलीच्या चिंतामणराव कॉमर्स कॉलेजमधून शिकत असताना एक टंगाळे व्यक्तिमत्व धीटपणे उभे राहून आपल्या शंका, माहिती देत असे. सडपातळ अंगकाठी, दातांची पंगत पुढच्या रांगेत, हसून आपली ओळख बाळ बोधे म्हणून करून देई. त्याच्या पाठीमागे बाळचे विविध अपभ्रंश बोलले जात ते त्याला त्रास देत नसत. कालांतराने त्यांनी नेव्हीत सिव्हिलियन कर्मचारी म्हणून करियर सुरू केले. आपल्या अंगीभूत कलागुणांवर तज्ज्ञ हवाई छायाचित्रकार म्हणून आयुषभर आपले छंद जोपासले. त्यांच्या कलागुणांना नाविकदलात मान्यता व प्रतिष्ठा मिळाली. आपल्या आवडत्या चित्रीकरणाच्या कार्यात नैनिताल इथे त्यांना देवाज्ञा झाली. अशा तरुणपणीच्या मित्राला निधनानिमित्त अभिवादन...

छायचित्रणाद्वारे (विशेषतः हवाई) त्यांनी निर्माण करून ठेवलेले दस्त-ऐवज इतिहास, भूगोल, पर्यावरण, नगररचना यांच्या अभ्यासासाठी अगदी अमूल्य आहेत. आणि असा ध्यास घेणारे ते एकमेव आहेत हे विशेष. श्रद्धांजली आणि या शास्त्रांच्या अभ्यासात त्यांना त्यांचे योग्य ते स्थान भविष्यात मिळो ही प्रार्थना.

भारतात मुळात छायाचित्रणाच्या कलेला तितकेसे मूल्य नाही. भारतीय छायाचित्रकारांच्या छोट्याश्या दुनियेतही त्यांची म्हणावी तशी दखल घेतली गेली नाही. 'बेटर फोटोग्राफी' आणि''सॅन्क्च्युअरी एशिया' ने तेवढी त्यांच्या कार्याला श्रद्धांजली वाहिली. सरकारी कारभाराबद्दल तर काही बोलायलाच नको. असोत. बाळासाहेबांना विनम्र श्रद्धांजली... :(
